I was really nervous to tell my parents about my decision to apply to go on World Race because while I knew they have a heart for missions, I wasn’t sure how they would feel about me leaving the U.S. and for so long. I told my mom first and she was very supportive from the beginning. Of course like any mother she had her worries and concerns but she knew that God was going to be with me wherever I go. I told my dad next, and he was very excited about the idea. I spent a couple more weeks  praying about the decision and eventually decided to apply. I heard back from World Race within a few days and set up an interview.

I was so nervous when it came time for my interview. It was scary knowing that whatever happened in that interview could have a major impact on the rest of my life. My mom kept reminding me that if I don’t get it then it wasn’t meant to be and God will provide something else. Before the interview I did a little bit of research on the process and read that after having the interview it could take awhile to hear back about their decision. The interview went so well and I was surprised to find out that I was accepted at the end of the call. For God to give me an answer so quickly I knew that this was the right path for me. Knowing what I was doing the year after high school gave me so much peace.

I was so excited to tell everyone about getting accepted. All of my family and friends have been so supportive. One of my Christmas presents from my grandparents on my mom’s side was a scholarship. This scholarship was $1,000 and is from my Auntie Sara who passed away. I may not have ever gotten to meet her but to be given this by my grandparents meant the world and I’m sure it meant just as much to them. I hope to write a post about just this one day in the near future. One of my best friends, sarah, lives far away from me. I was able to see her this weekend which can be very rare. Any time I get to see her and her family it’s really special. When I was saying goodbye to her mom she told me that their small group was praying for me and she told me how proud she was of me. The support of my best friend and her family also means the world to me.

I’m so thankful for all of the support. As of right now I’m almost to $2,000. Thank you so much for the prayers and the donations.
